In the latest of our exhibitor interview series we caught up with Scott Smith, Director of Sales at DME. 

DME is a technology leader serving the moldmaking and molding industries worldwide. What do you think sets your company apart from your competitors?

Since 1942 DME has been an industry leader in innovative products enabling not only the moldmaker but also the processor to rise to the highest level possible in quality and on-time service.

 

Are there any new technology developments that your company is working on at the moment?

iControl Hot Runner Insulation offers a breakthrough in the thermal management of hot runner systems, which can greatly reduce the cycle times lowering customer’s part costs and adding to production capacity.

MPC Temperature Controllers bring new, advanced and exclusive features to the realm of temperature control. Universally applicable for the control of standard systems as well as demanding high-performance applications.

 

What are the biggest challenges facing the injection molding industry today, and how can this be overcome?

Inflation: Resin, energy and labor costs are all increasing. DME offers technology to lower part costs

Shortage of Labor can be overcome through productivity. DME offers was to reduce cycle time and increase output.

Sustainability: DME offers technology to aid in the processing of recycled and bioplastic-based polymers. New ways to trace product through the lifecycle help support a true circular economy solution

Innovation, this is why DME works so hard on behalf of our customer to provide them the tools necessary to be successful.

 

How do you see the sector developing in the next five to ten years?

We see a sustained period of growth as companies in North America work to de-risk its supply chain by reshoring production and investing in new local manufacturing capacities.

You are exhibiting at the Injection Molding and Design Expo, what are you most looking forward to?

Showing the customers our vast product base and innovative technologies all aimed at helping our customer boost profitability
