Speaker interview: Cory Hoeppner, RJG

Next up in our speaker interview series, we caught up with Cory Hoeppner, TZERO® Project Manager at RJG.

At RJG, Cory is working with a consulting focus on RJG’s TZERO® program. TZERO® is a consulting service that provides a framework for collaboration between engineering and manufacturing. A big part of the process is reviewing part design and simulation, educating, optimizing, and assessing the mold development process to avoid molding uncertainties and resolve existing injection molding problems.

His role as the TZERO® Project Manager is to evaluate the potential risks before the tool launch and provide advice in using scientific results. Cory is committed to work dynamically with the industry for meticulous plastics engineering excellence.

What are the biggest challenges facing the market today and how can this be overcome?

I think the one of the biggest challenges is the lack of knowledge about part and mold design for injection molding.  This can be easily overcome as companies continue to train their workforce so that they are more prepared.

In your opinion, what do you consider to be the greatest development in your industry in the last decade?

The continuous growth in process monitoring via cavity pressure and temperature sensors has had a huge impact on the industry.  This also includes monitoring mold temperature control units real time.

How do you see the sector developing in the next five to ten years?

Being able to predict process conditions before steel is cut and then matching that to the actual process monitoring.

You will be speaking at the Injection Molding and Design Expo in Detroit this May, could you give us a preview on what you will be talking about?

I will be talking about streamlining the injection molding process from art to part.  Using simulation as a tool to help predict mold filling and the part process.  This will accelerate the development process and shorten time to market.

Don't miss Cory's training seminar on 'How to utilize technologies to accelerate your tool launch' at the Injection Molding and Design Expo.
