In the first of our exhibitor interview series, we spoke to Jerry Muntz, Director of Sales - Desiccant Dryer Division at Advanced Blending Solutions.

Advanced Blending Solutions is a world class designer and manufacturer of material handling, blending, drying, and controls for the plastics industry. With the addition of Thoreson McCosh, we have added material drying with press side and small to large central drying systems. ABS can customize a plant wide system to match the needs of customers.

What do you think sets your company apart from your competitors?

In today’s world, large equipment companies don’t listen. Advanced Blending Solutions is large enough to provide the ponies to get you big time solutions but small enough to have personal relationships with our customers. Our equipment is rugged enough to stand up to a demanding environment, yet smart enough to provide the technical solutions our customers need.  

Are there any new technology developments that your company is working on at the moment?

Continued improvements to our patented Velocity Control System which mitigates ANGEL HAIR while providing substantial energy savings. As well as significant improvements on our Dryer line-up.

What are the biggest challenges facing the injection molding industry today and how can this be overcome?

Quality people and educated people. The Pandemic has exposed everyone to this fact. Advanced Blending Solutions has made it a point to eliminate as many variables as possible that our customers employees face every day.  Through design and advanced controls, we can alert, warn, modify settings and shutdown process based on the variables we monitor eliminating variables that cause inconsistent products.

How do you see the sector developing in the next five to ten years?

While price is always a factor in making a purchasing decision – as in the recent past combined with going forward we are seeing our customers rely upon our engineering team to help them solve their material handling/drying/blending needs, rather than simply be another vendor to choose equipment from.

You are exhibiting at the Injection Molding and Design Expo, what are you most looking forward to?
